Christopher W. Mashburn, MAI began his commercial real estate appraising career as a Research Analyst with Mashburn Appraisal Group in Morehead City, North Carolina. After one year as an Analyst, he became a "Registered Trainee" Real Estate Appraiser in the state of North Carolina. During his tenure as a Trainee, Christopher met all requirements, which included education, coursework, examinations and experience hours, set forth by the Appraisal Institute, to earn the MAI designation. As of January 2016, Christopher is a certified general real estate appraiser in the state of North Carolina.
During his time at Mashburn Appraisal Group, Christopher has completed appraisal reports involving various commercial properties which include: vacant land, farmland, multi-tenant and single-tenant retail buildings, multi-tenant and single-tenant office buildings, industrial buildings, motels, mobile home parks, as well as various types of new construction. In preparing these reports, he has gained significance experience in researching and compiling market data, executing fundamental market analysis, as well as discounted cash flow and sell-out analysis.
His previous employment positions with Wellons Construction of Dunn, North Carolina and Houck Services of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania have given Christopher valuable insight into the process and cost associated with new construction. He understands and recognizes the time involved in assembling the necessary components for new commercial developments as well as the imperatives of continued maintenance on existing facilities. It is this knowledge that allows Christopher to proficiently analyze how all of these individual elements affect property value.
Christopher is a native of Morehead City, North Carolina and is active in his community. He is on the Board of Directors for the Morehead City Noon Rotary Club, an Advisory Board Member for the United Way of Coastal Carolina and attends Glad Tidings Church. Outside of work Christopher enjoys exercising, backpacking and spending time with his wife and three very active boys.
Mashburn Appraisal Group offers appraising and consulting services to lending institutions, buyers, sellers, owners, investors, developers, attorneys, and public agencies. A partial list of Bob’s clients include First Citizens Bank, RBC Bank, TrustAtlantic Bank, SunTrust Bank, First Bank, Marine Federal Credit Union, Sound Bank, Bank of America, BB&T, East Carolina Community Development, Inc., North Carolina Railroad Company, Small Business Administration, Chicago Title Insurance Co., US Environmental Protection Agency and most of the municipalities of Carteret County, NC.
His experience encompasses a wide diversity of property-types including vacant land, single-unit and multi-unit dwellings, single-unit and multi-unit office buildings, single-unit and multi-unit retail buildings, fast food franchises, hotels, industrial properties, proposed condominium developments, proposed subdivisions, and feasibility and market studies. He has had experience with several bankruptcy proceedings the most recent being Case No.: 08-07082-8-JRL in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern Division of North Carolina.
Bob also has experience in real estate brokerage, real estate development and management; single-unit and multi-unit dwelling construction, and commercial construction; and has owned and operated two retail businesses. He is a Designated Member (MAI) of the Appraisal Institute, a founding member of the Designated Appraisers Coalition, and a member of the North Carolina Professional Appraisers Coalition. Bob has trained several other appraisers, one of whom is his son Chris. Chris was awarded his designation (MAI) from the Appraisal Institute in 2015.
Bob and his wife, Gaye, have four grown children and eight grandchildren. Away from appraising Bob enjoys time with his family, cooking, hiking, music and kayaking. He is a member of the Advisory Board for The Salvation Army of Carteret County.
